“ Every Saturday they have a mobile drive up to get a box of food, depending on how many are in your family. They give meat, milk, fresh veggies and fruit, cheese, yogurt, bread etc and seasonal items. It starts at 9 AM but people start lining up as early as 7 AM I assume because I don't normally arrive until 8:15 and the line is down Broadway and ends up wrapping around onto 61st. They have a very well oiled system that gets people in and out as fast as possible and the volunteers are very friendly. It's a great service for the communities in NW Indiana. ”
“ Served at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana as an Americorps Member (August 2015-July 2016), while earning my BGS. This was wayyyyyyy back in the day (in the red barn) in Gary, Indiana; adjacent to Burger King and The Village. The winter was COLD and the summer was HOT. Being in the red barn , the internet sucked! I helped give out food at the Radisson Star Plaza for Christmas ! I went to high schools, churches, the parking lot , pantry on the go, to give out food for Thanksgiving and any other time of the year. I worked with diverse people from all walks of life. (Today) I have my masters degree and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana will forever be apart of that journey. God Bless You All! So happy you all finally made it to the new building in Merrillville! “ Good food! A lot of good food and fresh fruit and veggies. And milk and eggs. And meats. But you need transportation because they give you a lot of food you can’t get on the bus. What I don’t like is all the lines. ”

Loved hearing about program to partner with medical places and have boxes for diabetes, alzeimers, needy pregnant women and other medical issues. GOD BLESS THEM ”
